Front of House (FOH) Manager

A Front of House Manager at Canada's leading casual dining restaurant, Boston Pizza, assists the General Manager with the Restaurant’s daily operations. This includes supporting the training, development, staffing, scheduling, and performance management of the Front of House team members. The Front of House Manager supports the team to ensure that our most important people, our Guests, and team members, have an excellent Boston Pizza experience from start to finish. What does a successful Front of House Manager look like?

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    Opening & Closing Duties

    • Inspect and ensure cleanliness and readiness of FOH areas.
    • Verify all FOH systems and equipment functionality and stock levels.
    • Lead pre-shift meetings to review daily goals, specials, and service focus.
    • Secure cash, inventory, and premises at closing.

    Staff Management

    • Supervise and support FOH staff during shifts.
    • Assign duties, provide feedback, and manage conflicts.
    • Monitor adherence to company policies and service standards.
    • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new staff.

    Guest Service

    • Address guest concerns, inquiries and complaints professionally and promptly.
    • Ensure high service standards and resolve complaints.
    • Oversee food, beverage, and service quality.
    • Engage with guests for feedback and improvements.

    Inventory & Stock Management

    • Maintain and restock FOH supplies.
    • Reduce waste through proper storage, portion control, and inventory rotation practices.

    Financial Duties

    • Oversee daily cash handling, including balancing sales journal, tracking tips and tippool.
    • Ensure accurate reporting of sales, voids, discounts and discrepancies.

    Health & Safety Compliance

    • Enforce hygiene and safety accordance with BPI & Alberta Health regulations.
    • Train staff in food handling, cleanliness and emergency protocols.
    • Ensure equipment are well maintained and promptly report any hazards or malfunction.

    Communication & Reporting

    • Maintain clear communication with management about daily operations, staff performance, and any issues.
    • Submit end-of-shift reports detailing incidents, improvement recommendations.
    • Participate in meetings with management to review performance metrics and operational goals.

    Operational Support

    • Manage POS operations accurately and assist in maintaining vendor relations.
    • Ensure FOH organization and cleanliness, including maintaining dining area, expo, ice machines, coolers, bar area, washroom and patios.
    • Promote upselling by following baseline metrics and execute sales strategies.
    • Step in to address staffing gaps and operational challenges, including staff shortages or peak-hour supervision
  • 2 years management experience in a franchise or corporate restaurant.
  • Boston Pizza FOH experience strongly preferred.
  • Pro-Serve, First Aid, and Food Safety certifications required.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
