We’re looking for an Assistant Kitchen Manager (AKM) to join our team at Boston Pizza. If you’re an experienced kitchen professional who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high standards, and keeping operations running smoothly in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to have you on board!
As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Kitchen Manager and restaurant management team. You’ll help lead daily kitchen operations, coach and develop team members, maintain food quality and safety standards, and ensure the kitchen consistently delivers an excellent guest experience.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous restaurant kitchen experience, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions during busy service periods
- Strong understanding of cleanliness, sanitation, and food quality standards
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to take initiative
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively as part of a management team
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Compensation
- Starting wage: $18.00/hour
- Additional tips: approximately $2.50 - $3.00/hour
- Estimated total earnings: approximately $20.50 - $21.00/hour, depending on hours and tip distribution

What You’ll Do
- Support the Kitchen Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during assigned shifts
- Ensure food is prepared and presented according to Boston Pizza standards
- Monitor food quality, portion control, consistency, and ticket times
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
- Assist with food preparation, line setup, and kitchen operations as needed
- Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to help team members succeed
- Assist with scheduling, shift organization, and team deployment
- Help manage labour and productivity during shifts
- Monitor inventory, prep levels, and product usage
- Communicate product shortages, equipment issues, and operational concerns to management
- Ensure proper opening, shift-change, and closing procedures are followed
- Help resolve kitchen and service issues quickly and professionally
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
- Lead by example and maintain a professional attitude at all times

I never thought that working in a kitchen at Boston Pizza as a Kitchen Manager would impact me the way it has. The skills I have learned in the kitchen have also transferred into my personal life.
